Sewing Challenge 2020 – Week 3

This weeks challenge: Headwear
Accepted/Rejected: Accepted

I have had these two bucket hats sitting here for a little while now and the kids have been super patient waiting for them to be done, so I thought this week would be the perfect time to get them finished.

The kids were super excited that their hats were finally finished and couldn’t wait to wear them.

Now if only I could get around to finishing all the other half finished projects sitting on my sewing desk. How many unfinished projects do you have?

52 Week Sewing Challenge – Week 15

This weeks Challenge: Something with Woven Fabric (Accepted)

 

I’m still enjoying sewing with girly fabrics this week and decided to make a bonnet to match the outfit I made in Week 6.

I used the bonnet variation from the Ultimate Bucket Hat.

I’ve already given the outfit away so I couldn’t get a photo of it all together but I’m so happy with the bonnet and can’t wait to give it to my friend.

52 Week Sewing Challenge – 3 Months In

Wow! I can’t believe we are almost half way through April already. That also means we have finished the first 13 Weeks of the 52 Week sewing challenge so I thought it was time to recap what has been sewn so far this year. When I started this challenge I was hoping it would be a way to encourage me to sew something each week, so far this has been the case. It’s really great to look at the below images together. 52 Week Sewing Challenge – Week 8

This weeks Challenge: Something Upcycycled (Accepted)

My father in law has been asking me to make him a bucket hat for awhile but I wasn’t sure what fabric to use. He fixed that problem by bringing around one of his old shirts asking if I could turn it into a hat for him.

I started by cutting it up at the seams to be able to lay it flat and place all my pattern pieces.

I found some light blue homespun in my stash that matched nicely for the reverse side and hey presto we have a hat created from an old shirt. If you haven’t made an Ultimate Bucket Hat before you can find everything you need to know here.

     

The best part is I have enough left to make a matching little hat for Mr 2.

Day 2– Assemble side 1

Day 3 – Repeat Day 2 for the other side.
