Bolster Beanbag

Photo Credit Jennifer Epp – Footrest size with sofa and moon top, with the optional handle.

The Bolster Beanbag release, Tuesday 27th of August 2019.

This is the first sewing pattern I have designed. It has been a dream of mine since I was 10. My son was the inspiration behind this pattern.

There are 4 sizes to choose from:

Footrest: perfect name for its use but also great as bed for a small pet.

Toddler: as the name suggests, perfect for a toddler or small child.

Kids/Adult: Great all-rounder for the family.

Adult Plus: This is the big-boy! I always see listings for the HUGE beanbags that one could dream of. This size for sure is a winner.

Adult Plus – Model is my dad who had to have one too!

There are 3 shapes for the top of the beanbag; round, moon and sofa.

From Left to Right: Round, Moon, Sofa

The Bolster Beanbag has a removable outer cover to allow for easy machine washing. Perfect to curl up to read a book, catch up on the latest Netflix show or just lounge around on this comfy, cushy beanbag.

Always great to remember dreams do come true! Thank you Gail for making it possible for me.

Star Shorts Sew Along

The Star Shorts Sew Along is starting soon and we have decided to do something a little bit different, my eldest son Braden will be sewing and making the videos.

Braden has been telling me for a little while now that he wants to be a YouTuber when he grows up, I asked him if he wanted to help make some sewing videos for Flosstyle and he jumped at the chance.

I’m so proud of the effort he has put into the sewing and making of the videos (I think I was lucky enough to make an appearance once before I was told that I was better behind the camera punching the record button for him) and can’t wait to share them with you.

All the videos will be posted to our YouTube channel.

And if you haven’t already got it you can grab the Star Shorts Pattern here.

52 Week Sewing Challenge – Week 16

This weeks Challenge: Sew a bathing suit or undergarment (Rejected)

It’s beginning to get too cold for swimming here so I decided to reject this weeks challenge and leave the swimmers until next summer. Instead I made some warm clothes for Mr 3.

I used the Sprouts Twigs Pattern for the pants and the still in development long sleeve version of the Ventura (the lite version is free with the code in the Flosstyle Fair Group on facebook). Mr 3 was most impressed he had a lion pocket on the shirt.

What have you sewn this week? I’d love to see.

52 Week Sewing Challenge Wrap Up

So I promised myself I’d do a wrap up post at the end of the year so I could track my progress and give me a clear line for improvement for 2019 so here it is. It definitely could have been better but there’s always next year.

I have photos and blogs for 29 of my weekly creations from 2018, links to each blog are in the photo captions.

Week 1 , Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5 and Week 6
Week 7, Week 8, Week 9, Week 10, Week 11 and Week 12.
Week 13, Week 14, Week 15, Week 16, Week 17 and Week 18.
Week 19, Week 20, Week 26, Week 29, Week 30 and Week 37
Week 38, Week 39, Week 40, Week 41 and Week 42.

I think there may be a few that I forgot to photograph or didn’t have time to blog so thats something else to work on for next year as well. Overall though it was great motivation to sew something each week and I loved seeing everyone’s makes as well. Will you be joining the Challenge for 2019?

Top Nine for 2018

Wow I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone! I thought I would jump on the instagram bandwagon and create a top nine collage of my makes for 2018.

From Top, Left to Right: Sprouts Blossoms, Bunny Buckets, Super Suit Singlet and Tooshies, Ultimate Bucket Hat, One Yard Tote, Tidy Travel Tote, Jukebox Dress, Whirl Skirt and Jukebox Dress.

Before I sat down to look through my pictures and pick my top nine I was feeling like I hadn’t sewn enough this year after struggling to keep up with the 52 Week Challenge. But looking through all the things I did manage to make I’m pretty happy with the outcome.

I will be joining in the 52 Week Challenge again in 2019 and look forward to hopefully getting further along than I did this year. You can find my wrap up of the 2018 52 Week Sewing Challenge here.

52 Week Sewing Challenge – Week 42

This weeks Challenge: Something Orange or Black (Accepted)

This week is also week 3 of the Flosstyle Upcycle Challenge – The Zoo Collection.

This week I decided to use a t-shirt that someone bought for my other half but was too small for him, it’s been sitting in my pile of things to upcycle (or things I don’t need but don’t want to throw because one day I might need them).

I wanted to make a lined Giraffe/Elephant, using the shirt gave me enough fabric for the outer front and back and the snap panels, I used some black cotton lycra from my stash for the lining layer. My little monster loves it and even wore it to bed lastnight so that must mean it’s good.
